What Happened to Hele Outdoors After Shark Tank?
In Season 17, Murray White walked into Shark Tank with a clever idea to make car camping fun. He wanted a $75,000 investment for 5% of his business, Hele Outdoors.
Murray loved the outdoors growing up in Hawaii. When he could not find a simple car-camping setup, he built his own. Soon after finishing his first prototype, Murray lost his job. Instead of quitting, he went all-in on his business.
He created the Hele Box, a smart platform that turns an SUV into a bed. The solo version has a low cost to make and a higher retail price for the final sale. Before the show, the company already made strong sales online.
During the pitch, Barbara Corcoran and Daymond John fought for a deal. After some back-and-forth, Murray made a final counteroffer, and Barbara accepted a deal for $75,000 in exchange for 12.5% of the company.
Today, this growing business keeps building its brand value, proving you do not need an expensive van to enjoy nature.
