We ran out of paper score sheets for one of our favorite vacation games, with no way to print new ones. So I opened Claude and built a working score tool in under 10 minutes of active prompting. I later expanded the same file to track three different games.
This video is for anyone who uses Claude, ChatGPT, or another LLM day to day but mostly just for chatting or drafting text. I walk through the actual HTML file I built on vacation to track Qwixx, mini golf, and the dice game Noch mal!, then show why the same pattern applies to small, oddly specific problems at work that nobody will ever build dedicated software for.
What you'll learn:
How a single HTML file replaced three separate paper score sheets during a vacation
Why the first version of the Qwixx scoring logic needed two to three rounds of fixes before it matched the original sheet
How the exact same file runs unchanged on a MacBook, a Windows PC, an iPhone, and an Android phone with no install and no account
Why tiny, highly specific problems like this one rarely get solved by any existing app or an IT ticket
How the pattern behind this vacation tracker, score per player per night, maps directly onto small internal trackers and checklists at work

FAQ
Can you build a working app with Claude without knowing how to code?
Yes. The entire tool in this video was built through natural language prompts only, with two to three rounds of back and forth to fix the scoring logic. No programming experience was used or needed.
How long does it actually take to build a small tool like this with Claude or ChatGPT?
This specific three game score tracker took under 10 minutes of active prompting time. More complex tools will take longer, but very small and specific problems like this one are often solved this fast.
Does an app built this way work offline on a phone?
Yes. It is a single self contained HTML file, so it opens directly in any browser on a MacBook, a Windows PC, an iPhone, or an Android phone, with no install and no internet connection required.
Is there a real difference between using Claude Code and the regular Claude.ai chat for something this small?
Not really. This one was built in Claude Code, but because the result is just one HTML file, the regular Claude.ai chat could have handled this type of task as well.
Could ChatGPT build the same kind of tool instead of Claude?
Yes, the same approach works with ChatGPT or other LLMs as well. The point of the video is the pattern, not the specific tool.
