How many subscribers do you need to make $3,000 a month on YouTube? The answer depends on whether YouTube pays you through ads or a customer pays you for something useful.

Most beginners focus on reaching 1,000 subscribers because that milestone can open the door to YouTube ad revenue. But qualifying for monetization does not guarantee enough views or income to make $3,000 per month.

In this video, I compare the ad-revenue path with a customer-revenue path. On one of my channels, 1,000 views generated about $1.44 in advertising revenue. At that rate, earning $3,000 would require roughly 2.1 million monthly views. Even at a hypothetical rate of $10 per 1,000 views, you would still need approximately 300,000 views.

Then we change the math.

Instead of chasing millions of views, what happens when you sell a useful $25 digital product? Reaching $3,000 in gross monthly sales would require 120 buyers. You do not need those buyers to subscribe. You need them to find the right video, understand the solution, click the link and complete a purchase.

You’ll see how a new daycare owner’s urgent problem can become a searchable YouTube video, an editable message pack, a checkout link and a first customer. You’ll also learn what to measure when a video receives views but the product does not sell.

Watch until the end for the four-part customer path you can screenshot and use for your own idea.
