Hackers Took Down 700 Supermarkets. Are You Ready? #prepping #survival

Hackers disrupted refrigeration systems at hundreds of supermarkets in France, causing refrigerators and freezers to overheat and forcing stores to throw away spoiled food. French officials said roughly 700 supermarkets were affected, while authorities stressed that there was no broader threat to the country’s overall food supply.

The preparedness lesson is simple: more of the systems we depend on for food, utilities, and infrastructure are connected and automated. When those systems fail, the effects can become physical very quickly.
That’s one reason I like keeping a reasonable supply of shelf-stable food at home. Canned food, rice, beans, pasta, freeze-dried meals, and other foods that don’t depend on refrigeration give you more flexibility if stores are disrupted or refrigerated food has to be discarded.

You don’t need to panic-buy or stock years of food. Having enough at home that you don’t need to immediately run to the grocery store every time something goes wrong is a practical layer of preparedness.
