Claude for finance, building real apps: I connected Claude to Zite and built a full T&E expense review app from one chat, with logins, roles and an approval workflow.

Zite is an AI app builder that puts custom apps and workflows on top of a database, and its new MCP connector lets you build those apps straight from Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor.

Every finance team needs small apps like an expense queue or an approval step. They sit in the IT backlog for months, or they end up in an Excel workbook anyone can edit. So I built one the way a finance pro would want to: attach the travel and expense policy and six months of expense lines to a Claude chat, have Claude list every rule it can check automatically with the policy section number, and only then let it build.
One more prompt and Zite has a database, a policy check on every line, three roles with a built-in login, and a CFO summary page. It locked me out of my own app until I added myself to the roster, which is exactly what you want from an app holding expense data.
Then I put it through its paces. The CFO role couldn't approve anything, which is a problem the first time a large expense lands, so one plain-language prompt changed the approval workflow and Zite published a new version in under a minute.
The last build adds a front door: a submit-an-expense page where an employee uploads a receipt photo and the app runs the policy check before the expense goes through, asking for a justification and landing it in the review queue flagged.
If your finance team has been waiting on IT for a small internal app, or running one out of a shared workbook, this is the video.
