Charbono or Bonarda, whatever term you see, buy the wine. This grape was originally confused with Barbera, maybe that is why I tend to love each of these wines I try.
The grape, known as Bonarda in Argentina, is the second most planted red grape in the country. Perhaps it will be the next great thing to come out of that country. I sure hope we see more Charbono/Bonarda wines on US shelves.
In this video I taste a Charbono from T-Vine Cellars. T-Vine has long been a favorite of mine and their small production wines are always unctuous and delicious.
0:00 Discovering the Charbono grape
1:28 Regional differences: California vs Argentina
3:01 Breaking down the flavor profile
4:43 Small production excellence from T-Vine Cellars
7:25 The final verdict on the 2018 wine
