YouTube Automation: Half My Audience Is in India

I make every Short for Americans. Half my views come from India.

US spelling, miles before kilometers, posted for New York mornings. Then I pulled my Shorts views by country from YouTube Analytics.

Last 28 days (September 12 to October 9, 2026), Shorts only: 23,589 views from 46 countries, 4,538 watch minutes.

India: 11,726 views (49.7%), 2,342 watch minutes, 59% of each Short watched on average
United States: 4,339 views (18.4%), 1,063 watch minutes, 66% of each Short watched on average
Philippines: 1,147 views (4.9%), 143 watch minutes, 38% of each Short watched on average
United Kingdom: 1,126 views (4.8%), 203 watch minutes, 52% of each Short watched on average
Indonesia: 899 views (3.8%), 166 watch minutes, 80% of each Short watched on average

India got 2.7 times as many views as the US. Indonesia was only 3.8% of views, but its viewers watched 80% of each Short, the most of my top ten countries.

The lesson: the Shorts feed doesn't care who you write for. Check the country (geography) report in YouTube Studio Analytics before you choose a posting time. My 16:30 IST upload lands at 7:00 AM in New York and 4:30 PM in India.

Data: YouTube Analytics API, country report filtered to this channel's Shorts, read on October 10, 2026. Over the longer 90-day window India was 36% and the US 22%, so India's share has grown.

Tomorrow: how many of my viewers actually subscribed.
