This single kettlebell workout will humble you. Follow along with me in real time for five full rounds, filmed on a running track near where I was staying on my Coeur d'Alene, Idaho trip, proving once again you don't need a gym to get a great workout.
I call this an offset challenge workout because you're working with one kettlebell instead of two, which forces your core to work harder while challenging your balance and stability.
If you're more experienced, simply grab a heavier kettlebell and push this to 5 to 7 rounds. In this video, I'm using a 22 kg (48 lb) kettlebell. I performed this as a kettlebell complex, with no rest between exercises. I completed 5 rounds total, resting about 1 to 2 minutes after each round.
This workout can also be done as a circuit, with 15 to 30 seconds of rest between exercises. It's a great way to get through the workout if the complex feels a little too challenging at first.
If you're just starting out, scale it back to 2 to 3 rounds with a lighter kettlebell and build from there. There are no hard rules. Learn to listen to your body, stay consistent, and when you've got a little more in the tank, don't be afraid to push yourself.
Workout Details
5 Rounds
5 Single Arm Deadlifts
5 Dead Hang Cleans
5 Reverse Lunges
5 Thrusters
Repeat on the other side. Completing both sides counts as 1 round.
