THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I WANTED TO BUILD AN ONLINE BUSINESS
I didn't want to build an online business so I could sit at home all day.
I didn't want to escape work.
And I definitely didn't think making Hijrah would suddenly make life easy.
I wanted something much more important:
**The ability to work AND still be there for my family when they need me.**
Today, I'm sitting on a hospital bed with my laptop open, working beside my daughter.
Alhamdulillah, I'm grateful that I have the ability to work from almost anywhere.
But more importantly, I'm grateful that I can be **PRESENT.**
As fathers, we have a responsibility.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us that every one of us is a shepherd and that every shepherd is responsible for his flock.
That responsibility isn't just about putting food on the table.
It's also about being there.
Being present.
Supporting your wife.
Looking after your children.
Protecting your family.
And sometimes that means putting the laptop down.
And sometimes it means opening the laptop because you've still got bills to pay.
Because that's the reality of being a husband and father.
I came to Egypt without a guaranteed income.
I came with savings, a plan and the intention to build.
So when something unexpected happens, your responsibilities don't disappear.
Today, my responsibility was both:
**Be there for my daughter.**
**And keep working so I can continue providing for my family.**
And there was another challenge…
My wife doesn't speak Arabic.
So apparently part of my Hijrah responsibilities is becoming her **FULL-TIME Arabic translator** every time we go to the hospital.
And honestly, moments like this remind you just how important Arabic can be.
You don't realise how valuable it is until you're sitting in a hospital trying to understand the doctor, paperwork or what's actually happening with your family.
So if you're planning Hijrah to Egypt, don't only prepare financially.
Prepare your **DEEN.**
Prepare your family.
Prepare your skills.
And **LEARN ARABIC.**
You never know when you're going to need it.
May Allah protect our families, our children and all those making Hijrah. May Allah grant us good health, protect us from sickness and hardship, and make our Hijrah a means of getting closer to Him. Ameen.
And if you're a father thinking about Hijrah, remember:
You don't necessarily need to have everything figured out before you start.
But you **DO** need a plan.
Savings.
Skills.
A way to support your family.
And Tawakkul in Allah while taking the means.
Because Hijrah isn't about running away from responsibility.
It's about building a better life **WHILE taking your responsibilities seriously.**
