OpenLearn is one of the internet's biggest free learning platforms, offering nearly 1,000 free courses from The Open University.

In this video, we explore what OpenLearn actually offers, how its free courses work, what subjects you can study, how course levels and study times work, and what you get when you complete a course.

You'll see how OpenLearn covers subjects including:-

• Science, mathematics and technology
• Computing and cybersecurity
• Psychology and education
• Business, management and finance
• History, literature and philosophy
• Languages
• Environment and sustainability
• Politics, society and law

We'll also look at OpenLearn's course structure, quizzes, activities, downloadable materials, progress tracking, Statements of Participation, and digital badges.

Some courses take only a few hours, while others are designed around much longer periods of study. Certain courses also offer a free digital badge that you can share as evidence of completing the course. These badges and Statements of Participation are recognition of learning, not formal academic credit toward an Open University qualification.

If you're looking for free online courses, university-level learning resources, or simply want to explore something new without paying for a traditional course, OpenLearn is worth knowing about.
