The Best Exit Move In Golf (And Almost Nobody Teaches It!)

"Exit left" is one of the most popular buzz terms in golf instruction right now. Almost everyone is teaching it wrong.

Shaun Webb and Mike Granato from Atheltic Motion Golf pick up where their recent exit left video left off and break down what the trail arm should actually do from impact to shaft parallel past impact. The GEARS data is clear: the arm stays at roughly the same horizontal adduction (in by one degree) but moves up by ten degrees. The hands LOOK like they're going around the corner — but they're not being pulled there. Body rotation, internal shoulder rotation, and forearm rotation (the "shake hands with the target" move Tiger Woods talked about) are what create that look.

Two tour pros on GEARS confirm the pattern. The arms barely move across the body... but the body rotates 40+ degrees of hips, and the hands appear to whip around. Try to fake the exit by ripping your arms across and the body shuts off, the chicken wing shows up, and you're left saving every shot with your hands.
