What happens when the power goes out in the middle of a multi-day 3D print? Can the Anker SOLIX S2000 keep the print going?
Most modern 3D printers have some form of power-loss recovery, but there's a problem: during an extended outage, the heated build plate can cool down. Once a PEI build plate cools, the print can begin to release—and it doesn't matter if your printer remembers where it stopped if the print is no longer attached.
In this video, I'm testing the Anker SOLIX S2000 as backup power for my 3D printers to see if it can keep the printer running, the bed hot, and the print going when utility power disappears.
I test the S2000 with the Creality SPARKX i7 Nano and Anycubic Kobra X, then step things up by running three 3D printers simultaneously with the Creality SPARKX i7 Nano, Anycubic Kobra X, and Elegoo Centauri Carbon.
We'll look at real-world power consumption, UPS switchover, estimated battery runtime, multi-printer operation, the Anker app, and why I think backup power can essentially act as insurance for those really long prints you don't want to lose.
