Is Mexico going to bypass the Panama Canal? You see Panama is facing a drought, which is basically drying up the Lake Gatun, which provides water to the Panama canal to operate, resulting in ships to wait for weeks in the open sea. However Mexico's plane goes like this: Ships reach the Salina Cruz port, the cargo travels by railway through a 300 kilometers sretch and then the other ship picks up the cargo and moves to it's destination. Mexico could then build industries along this route, providing jobs and opportunities to surrounding region. But mexico still has to modernize ports, and railways, and this would cost around 8 billion dollars.
