After six years with Virgin Media, I switched to Olilo — with 13 static IPs and a home server rack to think about. This is how I chose the connection, got the fibre installed, and moved my services across to the new public addresses.
I cover the leased-line quotes, why Olilo appealed to me, the backup connection, and the practical work of updating routing, DNS and VPNs. There was one loose end with API access, too. Was the switch worth it?

A FEW DETAILS
• Olilo's service page checked on 17 October 2026 lists 1.6Gbps download and 110Mbps upload. I report roughly 120–130Mbps upload from my own experience in the recording. That is separate from the advertised figure; this video does not include a speed-test capture.
• The leased-line prices are approximate quotes I received, not current advertised tariffs. Contract and VAT details are not shown.
• The /28 arrangement was specific to my order. I moved services to new IP addresses; I did not transfer my Virgin Media addresses to Olilo.
• I discuss keeping the Olilo public addresses available over a backup connection, but this video does not demonstrate a timed failover test.
SMALL CORRECTION
ASN stands for Autonomous System Number. Getting one is a possible future project, separate from this migration.
The GRE diagram illustrates the former setup I describe. GRE encapsulates packets; it does not itself encrypt them. Technical reference: https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc2784
Have you changed ISP with a home lab or services running at home? Let me know what caught you out.
