Springfield might just be one of the most awkward railway stations in Fife.
It is the least used station in Fife, has only a handful of trains per day, and because of the timetable, I decided the best way to get there was not by train… but on foot from Cupar.
In this video, I visit Springfield station, take a look at its facilities, explain why the service pattern makes it so awkward, and explore some of the history behind this quiet little ScotRail station on the line between Edinburgh and Dundee.
I also ask whether Springfield really feels like it belongs in Fife, because with its rural setting and station building, it almost feels like somewhere much further north.
Would you use Springfield station, or is the timetable just too awkward? Let me know in the comments
