Dishonesty in the art community is something I have been thinking about a lot lately, especially when it comes to art supply reviews, sponsorships, affiliate links, and creators recommending products they may not actually love. After last week's video about pretending to love art supplies, I received some very strong reactions, and it made me realize that there was something else I needed to talk about.

There are things I have experienced personally that have made me question how honest some of the recommendations we see online really are, and I think artists deserve to be able to trust the people they are taking advice from.

This isn't a video about calling out specific artists or companies, and it isn't about creating drama. I am sharing several personal stories and experiences from my own time as an artist and content creator, because I have been on the other side of many of these situations myself. When companies contact me asking me to recommend or review their products, I know what those offers can look like, and sometimes the things I am being asked to say simply aren't true for me.
