Is Lindsay Clancy benefiting from a gender double standard?
The Lindsay Clancy case has forced an incredibly uncomfortable question into the open as the jury weighs criminal responsibility for what happened to Cora, Dawson and Callan.

Her defense argues postpartum psychosis profoundly affected her mental state. Prosecutors argue she understood what she was doing and should be held criminally responsible.

But beyond the courtroom is a completely different fight.

Lindsay Clancy has received significant public support, including supporters who identify strongly with the maternal mental-health issues raised by her case.

So reverse the genders.

Would a father accused under comparable circumstances receive the same compassion, public support and benefit of the doubt?

Or is that comparison inherently unfair because postpartum psychosis is a condition tied specifically to childbirth?

That is where this becomes more than a true-crime argument. It becomes a fight over gender, mental illness, accountability and whether equality always means treating everyone exactly the same.
