The new iPad mini finally has OLED. It's thinner than an iPhone Air and starts at $699.

I've been using it next to my 5-year-old iPad mini 6 and my iPhone Duo to answer two questions: is it worth the upgrade from a 6th gen, and should you get an iPhone 18 Pro plus an iPad mini instead of the iPhone Duo?

The iPad mini (A20 Pro), which a lot of people are calling the iPad mini 8, gets an 8.5" OLED screen, IP67 water resistance, fast charging and the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone Duo. In my stress test, it stayed faster than the Duo even at its slowest. But it's still 60 Hz, it costs $200 more than my mini 6 did, and your old Apple Pencil won't work with it.
