A good strategy is like a perfect game of chess. A bad strategy is building a top-heavy warship that sinks in 20 minutes, or bankrupting your entire country to sell wool winter coats in a tropical jungle. From the catastrophic sinking of the Swedish warship Vasa, to the Union Army jumping into their own mass grave at the Battle of the Crater, and the absurdly paranoid voyage of the Russian Second Pacific Squadron (complete with armed monkeys), human hubris has led to some spectacular fiascos. Join us as we explore the greatest, most embarrassing strategic failures in military history.
