Same basic block, but two very different quilts. That's the magic of Double Take! This time, Natalie and Misty are both working from Mrs. Smith's Favorite quilt pattern by Missouri Star, and then going their own separate, spectacular directions.

Misty rotates the outer units along the sides, swaps in a black and white background, and tweaks the corner four-patches just enough to shift the entire mood of the quilt. The result? Her Lantern Glow Quilt Pattern, made with the rich, painterly Monarch Meadow precuts by Nicole Tamarin Licensing for White Owl Textiles, glows with warmth and drama.

Natalie takes a different approach, alternating the blocks on every other unit to create a mesmerizing, rhythmic pattern that seems to shift as you look at it. Her finished quilt—the Nordic Star Weave Quilt Pattern—is made in Colorworks Premium Solids in Marrakech and Porcelain yardage, and the combination of geometric precision and those deep, saturated neutrals is nothing short of stunning.
