Disable Knowledge Citations In Gemini Gems

Are you tired of the little citations Gemini adds to its output when you use a Gem?

There is a new hidden feature that allows you to disable those pesky citations.

The Gems Hidden Citation Blueprint:
- Locating the Toggle: Open your side panel at Gemini.Google.com, open a Gem in your Gems manager, and look directly below the Knowledge area.
- System-Wide Impact: Checking this box hides the footnote links attached to your uploaded text files, PDFs, and Google Drive attachments inside that specific Gem.
- The Documentation Trail: Google's official support tips confirm the setting exists to keep responses looking clean, though the actual workflow utility remains completely bizarre.

A few thoughts:
- If you don't want a file to be used, you probably wouldn't put it in the knowledge base to begin with, but you may have a use case I'm not considering.
- Google's interface doesn't warn you that this setting bleeds out of just the Knowledge files uploaded to the Gem. Checking this box inside a Gem will also disable citations for regular files uploaded in your chats with that Gem.
- Use it with caution if you rely on verifying your data sources.
