Copilot vs Cowork vs Agents vs Scout — here's a simple decision map for when to use each Microsoft AI experience based on the work you're doing.

Microsoft gives business users a growing set of AI tools: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Cowork, agents, and now Microsoft Scout. They're not interchangeable. In this video I break them into four "levels of autonomy" — using a self-driving-car analogy, from you doing all the steering to full autopilot — so you can quickly decide which experience fits the task in front of you.

We walk through all four:

Level 1 M365 Copilot (the assistant that helps in the moment, inside the apps you already use)
Level 2 Copilot Cowork (the doer that runs a whole multi-step task asynchronously)
Level 3 agents (build once, reuse across a team, triggered by people or events)
Level 4 Microsoft Scout (the always-on autopilot that acts proactively across your files, terminal, browser, and Microsoft 365 data).

I also cover the cost-stewardship mindset for the consumption-based experiences — how to make sure the value you get is higher than the cost you put in.

This one's for M365 Copilot adopters, IT pros, and end users trying to cut through the noise and actually pick the right tool.
