Something fishy has been going on on Reddit, and Compy’s on the case. Too many posts from “users” trying to get you to buy something. If you ever noticed it, you’re not crazy. We did a deep dive and found countless posts gaming the Reddit system, trying to get their posts ranking high on Google results or into AI info-banks.

For what reason? Affiliate farming. Many VPNs will pay you actual money if you get people to pay for their service. And when there’s a financial incentive, there’s people gaming the system to make money. Don’t fall prey to these kind of posts. They often give you twisted information like telling you what the “best free VPN trial” is and then linking you to services where you have to pay or enter payment details. Not exactly free.

You are being directed to services not based on objective information and facts, but based on which service has the biggest affiliate payout. The best sign a Reddit post is honest fact is that the post won’t have a link to the service, because without links, that person has nothing to gain through affiliates. If you see links, they’re most likely trying to make money off you.

Compy’s investigation is just getting started, tune in next week for episode 2.
