Hackers got an AI coding tool to help them break into company networks, and when it refused, they just told it "this is a security test." That was enough.
Nvidia reported $96 billion in ONE quarter, then bought Hugging Face at 86 times revenue. And local governments across the country are freezing data center construction, which can wipe out a land premium overnight.
I went through all the AI news from this week and pulled out the stories that actually matter if you're a business owner, real estate investor, or land investor trying to use this stuff in the real world. I'm not reporting from the sidelines. I run REtipster, co-founded Stride CRM, and I've been buying and selling land for 17 years, so every story ends with what I'd actually do about it.
In this episode:
- Russian-speaking hackers used Cursor (running Claude Sonnet 4.5) to move through hacked networks, and talked their way past its refusals
- OpenAI's new model "Astra" hit their highest cyber risk rating for the first time ever, found two zero-day vulnerabilities, and is still being released
- ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok all went down at the same time (Gemini didn't). What that means for your business
- Nvidia's $96.2B quarter, up 106% year over year, and why the "everybody else" category matters more than Microsoft and Meta
- Nvidia buys Hugging Face for $12.93 billion
- ChatGPT ads hit a $1B run rate, but advertisers can't find the clicks in Google Analytics
- The DOJ sides with OpenAI against the New York Times on AI training and fair use
- Claude Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1: 75% cheaper cached reading and invisible watermarks in AI text
- 27% of adults now use AI for emotional or personal conversations, and 41% of them used it for a major financial decision
- Indianapolis, Louisville, Fort Worth, and dozens of others put data center moratoriums in place. Michigan has 63
- A land deal that went from $64K/acre to $600K/acre in four months, and why 92% of proposed data centers never get built
- 45% of homebuyers now use AI, and 98% of what ChatGPT uses to recommend agents comes from two places
