A remote job is not the same as permission to work from another country.

If you’re a W-2 employee moving to Spain, your employer needs to approve the arrangement and provide specific documents for your Digital Nomad Visa application.

The two biggest pieces are usually:

• An authorization letter confirming you can work remotely from Spain
• The correct Social Security arrangement, which may include a US Certificate of Coverage

You also need to meet the income, employment history and professional qualification requirements.
