These are the best AI tools for your second brain, research, and data work in 2026, ranked bad, mid, and good.

AI second brain and notes: skip Evernote, Notion is fine, Obsidian is the one.

Daily driver AI chat: not Claude, Gemini is overkill, ChatGPT is my go-to.

Deep research: avoid ChatGPT here, Gemini Deep Research is pretty good, but Perplexity takes the cake.

Data analysis and backends: skip Excel, ChatGPT is okay, Claude Code is what I actually use.

Renting a VPS: avoid Contabo, Hostinger is alright, Hetzner is my favorite.
